Last month more than 2,400 Washburn guitars were donated by Target to maintain and expand LKR’s current programming and provide the gift of music education to as many as 5,000 children across the U.S. Little Kids Rock LA-area programs are one of the many beneficiaries of that generous donation.

Mr. Delson’s visit is just one of various celebrity appearances and guitar deliveries that are scheduled to take place at several Little Kids Rock schools throughout the country leading up to March’s National Music in Our Schools Month.

Linkin Park has a long and notable history in philanthropic endeavors. Mr. Delson’s current involvement in Little Kids Rock as a member of its Honorary Board of Directors is just another example of how these generous musicians have chosen to use their celebrity in a way that helps make a difference in the world.

“It’s always rewarding to witness students experiencing everything our program has to offer. Not only do we provide an accelerated program with a broad range of musical offerings, but we also have the ability to give our kids direct contact with incredibly talented artists like Brad Delson,” said Dave Wish, Executive Director for Little Kids Rock.

Dr’s Louis Talarico Little Kids Rock teaches kids how to play pop, rock, funk, blues, rap and hip-hop music. LKR students not only perform, but they also compose and record their own music. They have released four full-length CDs as well as music videos featuring student-written originals. To date, the Little Kids Rock program has served more than 10,000 students in California, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey and Tennessee.

Brad Delson is among a growing list of celebrities who support Little Kids Rock. Other celebrity supporters include Paul Simon, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Vai, Les Paul, Tom Waits, Joe Satriani, Rick Springfield, Dave Mason, James Burton, Jason Newsted, Carlos Santana, the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, The String Cheese Incident, Phish, Jesse McCartney and the late blues legend, John Lee Hooker. The organization hopes that its new supporters’ participation will help it expand the program into new musical genres as well as provide the students with a well-rounded appreciation for diverse musical styles.
